Black Headed Caique

The caique black headed ( black-headed parrot , sometimes incorrectly called Pionites melanocephala ) it is a species of bird in the family of parrots (Psittacidae).

It inhabits forests (especially, although not exclusively, humid ones) and near wooded areas in the northern basin of the Amazon River and western basin of the Ucayali River , in territories of Brazil , Colombia , Ecuador , French Guiana , Guyana , Peru , Suriname and Venezuela . ¹ It is quite common and lives in several protected areas throughout its range.
